Wijngaard Natie celebrates its 160th birthday!
Wijngaard Natie is celebrating! It is with great pride that we look back at our company’s 160th anniversary on this 22 January.
Since its establishment in 1864, Wijngaard Natie first functioned as a reception nation, where it played a vital role in receiving overseas cargo. During this time, the port of Antwerp was already a distribution centre, where goods received were carefully counted, measured, weighed and sampled and further distributed to their destinations.
From storage, transport and distribution only, we diversified over the years to include stowing, maritime packaging, and semi-industrial activities developed for the chemical and steel industry. On this 160th anniversary, we can say that we are a fully-integrated logistics service provider on an international scale, thanks to our ideal location in Europe with the port of Antwerp.
We offer our customers creative solutions and an efficient, customer-oriented service.

Focus on sustainability
Throughout these years, we became an international player providing every customer with reliable cargo flow solutions, with a clear focus on metals, project cargo, chemicals and food. And we can be proud of that!
Sustainability is a priority mission for us. We are committed through eco-friendly, innovative logistics solutions and promote a shift towards sustainable transport, thereby not only meeting current needs but also building a greener future. As a result, Wijngaard Natie committed itself to achieving VOKA’s Sustainable Business Charter.
To ensure that our business remains future-proof, we opted for the steady switch to electrified vehicles. As such, Wijngaard Natie is now deploying four fully electric trucks for transports within the port. These are the first for harbour transports within the Port of Antwerp-Bruges: a pivotal moment in the transition to a more sustainable and greener future in the Belgian transport sector.
